Our final Durban Curry Experience of 2026 takes us home for the holidays—to Christmas in Durban.

Join us for A Durban Holiday Celebration, an intimate evening exploring the warmth, flavors, and traditions of a South African Indian Christmas through food, storytelling, and communal dining on the Belfast waterfront.

Christmas in Durban looks a little different. While Maine settles into winter, Durban is celebrating in the warmth of summer, where family gatherings, festive tables, and the aromas of curries cooking are all part of the season.

Growing up in Durban, Christmas was a celebration of traditions coming together. Alongside the familiar holiday roasts were the curries that remained at the heart of our family table, followed by festive sweets, biscuits, and trifle.

For this special gathering, we'll bring those memories and traditions to life with a thoughtfully curated holiday menu inspired by the South African Indian Christmas table, where familiar festive favorites meet the bold flavors of Durban.

Hosted at the Belfast Boathouse, guests will gather around communal tables overlooking the harbor for an evening centered around food, storytelling, culture, and community.

No two Durban Curry Experiences are ever the same. Each gathering explores a different chapter of Durban's vibrant South African Indian food culture through thoughtfully curated menus, storytelling, and traditions that invite guests to experience a small piece of Durban itself.

Served family-style with welcome bites, festive dishes, traditional accompaniments, and something sweet to finish the evening.

This is more than a holiday dinner. It's an invitation to experience Christmas through another culture, share traditions, and celebrate the connections that bring us together around the table.

DIETARY NOTES

This experience will feature a selection of meat and vegetable dishes inspired by South African Indian holiday traditions. A vegetarian curry will also be served. Due to the nature of this curated, family-style dining experience, we may not be able to accommodate all dietary restrictions or food allergies.
